In the beginning
there was silence
Then Sonara sang, and Auralia woke — its skies, its seas, and the living rhythm running through all of it. Her song has held the world together ever since. It is faltering now. And a boy has woken with no memory of who he is. His name is Mez.
Prologue — The First Song
In the beginning, there was only silence… until she sang.
From her voice, the world of Auralia was born, its skies, its seas, and the living energy Sonos that flows through all things.
This was the song of Sonara, pure, whole, and filled with the virtues of Hope, Courage, Wisdom, Joy, Truth, Love, and Unity.
But in the void beyond, something heard her song… and came to end it.
Null. The silence that unravels harmony. The shadow that brings dissonance.
Sonara fought to protect Auralia against Null’s armies, but even her song began to falter. And so, in her greatest act, she split her voice into seven virtuous chords… and from them, the Echoes were born.
Together, the children of Sonara drove back the darkness. But her voice was shattered, and the Echoes were left to guard the world. Even they, however, were not beyond Null’s corruption.
For generations, the Echoes chose Guardians, mortals pure of heart, exemplifying the virtues they were sworn to protect, to wield resonance and preserve Auralia’s balance.
Until one Guardian was lost to corruption. He drained the power of his allies and shattered the Guardian order. The Echoes themselves fell into corruption… all but one.
The last Echo endured, waiting in silence for the chance to rise again.
Now, centuries later, as Null’s corruption threatens to consume all that remains, the Echo of Hope calls forth a new Guardian… A boy, summoned from the sky.
The worlds
Auralia is not one place. The story opens in the Sacred Caverns; where it goes after that is not something to read in a list.
